The Writers

I’m Helen Luketic and I’m the manager of HR metrics & research at BC Human Resources Management Association.  You can learn more about me here or here.

I spend lots of time reading about what’s going on in the economy, business and HR.  I started this blog back in March 2009 because I was inspired by other blogs I read – they were becoming the place to read about the latest in HR.  The blogs made you think and laugh and took all of  30 seconds a day to read.  I figured blogging was what was missing in my life full of random activities and Canadian HR pros needed a place to talk to other pros about what’s going on.

So here we are with Fireside HR.  I once was a lone ranger but now I’m quite thrilled that as of May 2010, this blog has morphed into a multi-writer, multi-talent format.

I’m proud to share this space with:

Holly MacDonald  Owner/Principal @ Spark + Co

Holly is an independent consultant with well over 15 years of experience in the learning & development field.  Holly is a bit of a techno-geek and can often be found playing online.  When she steps away from her computer, she spends time outside: hiking, kayaking, gardening and of course walking the dog.  She lives on Saltspring Island and is a leader in the live/work revolution.

Geraldine Sangalang,
CHRP Candidate  Future HR Star

Geraldine is an HR pro working at the Robson Square Courthouse.  She volunteers as a BC HRMA GV CAN Networking Co-Chair, as well as a recruiter for Meaningful Volunteer.  On her private time, Geraldine loves scrapbooking, hiking, kayaking, and dining out with friends.

Dana Sebal
Director, Human Resources @ Sebal Enterprises

Dana has over 10 years Marketing and Human Resources experience.  Outside of her professional career, Dana’s passions include her family, rowing, running, tennis, skiing, yoga, and Beagles.

Krysty Wideen, CHRP
Consultant @ The Refinery Leadership Partners

Krysty is a learning and organizational development consultant with The Refinery Leadership Partners, based in Vancouver.  Failing to leave her day job at work, she often finds herself relating everyday, commonplace observations and activities to insights about leadership, business, human resources, and anything, really.  Now she has a place to share her observations and insights (besides her other blog!).
Twitter junkies can follow her at @krystyw

Agata Zasada, CHRP Candidate
  People Resources Associate @ Lululemon

Agata is an HR generalist in a fast-paced company no one in Vancouver ever has heard of, lululemon athletica.  She has three years of experience in HR supplemented by a BBA in HR.  Outside of her love for her career, Agata has been learning to run as well as practicing yoga (mainly Savasana), and is known for her witty humour.  Somehow in her busy schedule she manages to write her own blog HR 4.0 by Agata.

And to our writer in retirement (from the blog, not in work!) thanks for your contribution:

Suzanne Boyd, CHRP  Partner @ Noverra Consulting & Capital Partners

Suzanne lives and works in Vancouver and spends her days advising clients on how to work with people in a manner that drives their businesses forward. She works with very smart, quantitative and analytical guys who keep her on her toes, and prevent her from speculating without data. For fun, while not working (which is mostly fun!), Suzanne spends time on the slopes and enjoying Vancouver’s restaurant scene.
